Hpdv9000

report on an ubuntu intrepid ibex (8.10) installation on a HPdv9000 laptop (exact model dv9085ea)

I'm not going into detail on any of these issuse because I don't really have the time to do it. I will post only a list of things that work or not on my intrepid installation. Call me selfish or lazy, but I've already spent a week trying to get my wired ethernet card without luck, which I really need for my daily work. In addition, i live at 12000Km (approx. 7600 miles) from my family and I can't get the ### microphone to work. I am/was a happy linux user from more than 10 years, even when i couldnt get my X to work. But as time passed i have less time to hack and need more solutions than problems. So far, there's no Official HP dv9000 laptop thread, because this one is closed: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=431815 and the howto it mentions is deprecated. So, where could we gather together all this info?

HARDWARE

Works:

• Speakers and headphones
• Wireless card
• DVD writer
• mute and volumen buttons
• webcam
• suspend to HDD

Doesn't work

• Neither Internal nor external mic
• playback buttons
• wired ethernet card

SOFTWARE

firefox goes slow like hell. I remember installing it the first time because i thought classic mozilla was slow. omg.
